Christmas in Prescott
Prescott’s charming downtown centers on an old-fashioned town square with an historic courthouse, but what surrounds it is anything but old fashioned. Upscale shops and restaurants, art and antiques, and just about everything in between make Prescott’s historic downtown the place to be.
In 1989, former Governor Rose Mofford officially named Prescott “Arizona’s Christmas City.” Since that time, Prescott has not disappointed visitors from all across the state and country, the Prescott area truly delivers a spectacular Christmas experience.
Below are a few Christmas events you won’t want to miss in the Prescott, Prescott Valley, and Chino Valley areas.
On-Going Through The Season
Prescott Valley of Lights. A one-mile drive through of Christmas light displays. Enjoy hundreds of light displays as you drive through Fain Park in Prescott Valley. Every evening from 6pm- 10pm. Look for the Soldier in Lights guiding you in. Open through December 30th.
World’s Largest Gingerbread Village at Prescott Resort & Conference Center, located at 1500 Highway 69. View Gingerbread creations from all over the state. Display is open through January 1st. There will be a special visit from Santa on December 10th from 11 am to 1 pm.
Ice Skating at the Prescott Valley Event Center through January 7th. A great time to get into the holiday spirit by skating with friends and family. Adults (13 and up) $5.00 per session, Kids (12 and under) $3.00 per session, Toddlers (3 and under) Free. Skate Rentals (regardless of age) $4.00 per pair/per session. Friday, December 7th
Acker Night Showcase, 5:30 p.m., downtown Prescott. Acker Night has more than 100 musicians performing all around downtown Prescott area shops. Acker Night is a fundraising event for art and music scholarships www.Ackernight.com
Sunday, December 9th
Flash Mob Christmas Caroling, 1 to 2:30 pm, US Vets VIP Center. Meet at 917 E. Gurley. Sing to a few of the area Homeless Veterans who could use some holiday cheer.
Saturday, December 15th
Old-Fashioned Cowboy Christmas 1 – 5 pm, Yavapai Humane Society Equine Center, 3731 N Road 1 W, Chino Valley. A holiday event complete with sleigh rides, Santa Claus, caroling and more. www.YavapaiHumane.org/cowboychristmas
Thursday, December 20th
Caroling at the Courthouse, 12:15 to 12:45 pm, north side steps of courthouse plaza. Sponsored by Lincoln Elementary School.
Monday, December 31st
Whiskey Row New Year’s Eve “Boot Drop”, 6 pm to 12:30 am. Historic Whiskey Row in historic downtown Prescott rings in the New Year with the 8th Annual Whiskey Row Boot Drop. A 6-foot tall illuminated cowboy boot is lowered from the Palace Building’s Flagpole at 10 pm. and again at Midnight. There are fireworks, live music, giveaways, and food! Enjoy! www.BootDrop.com
